For Stillman Hall at The Ohio State University, Hardlines Design Company (HDC) renovated an existing fourth-floor space into an executive office suite and meeting rooms for the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy.HDC developed floor plans and submitted multiple design solutions for a flexible yet distinctive space. HDC also held weekly meetings with the University Architect’s Office and the John Glenn Institute to develop program requirements. The program included private offices, a 25-seat conference room, open workstations, storage, a reception area, and a kitchenette. The design accommodated access to existing windows and radiators, existing tile walls and shafts, and restoration of existing 1930s wall murals. The scope of work also called for a design that would allow unobstructed views of all the murals, which affected room placement and necessitated the use of a full-height glass wall.
