The Scherer House project featured the restoration of a single-family home dating from the late 1800s, after its conversion into apartments. The work required complete restoration of the original front lobby and stair to its original state and reconstruction of the front porch and balcony from historic photographs. There was a new kitchen addition and back stair added in keeping with the historic character of the house.
The house features restored oak and cherry woodwork throughout, stained glass, new lighting, HVAC, and elevator service. The attic was converted into bedrooms for grandchildren and the basement was designed with a wine cellar and a billiard room. The restoration was done to facilitate entertaining. It also showcases Ms. Scherer’s extensive private art collection.
